Services

The Register of Deeds office records, files, indexes and maintains documents authorized by law based on the Wisconsin Statutes. All real estate documents that affect ownership of property, easements, mortgages, satisfactions, land contracts, name changes, power of attorney, federal tax liens, plats and certified survey maps are recorded in this office.

Documents recorded before September 1951 are not in a computer searchable index.  Price County Register of Deeds office is pleased to offer copies of the original Grantor and Grantee indexes of our older records. as well as our Tract Indexes.

Public Information

The functional duties of the Price County Register of Deeds Office are:

  • To provide and protect the integrity of the official County repository for real estate records and vital records
  • To provide archival storage and convenient access to these public records
  • To collect, disburse, and accurately account for fees imposed by Wisconsin Statutes and other local and State regulations
  • To implement statutory changes, system modernization, program and procedure evaluation, and staff development to assure a high level of timely service for our citizens

The Register of Deeds office cannot change deeds or draft deeds. A deed is a legal document. Legal documents such as warranty deeds, quit claim deeds, etc., that convey title from one property owner to a new owner, or change names on a deed are usually drafted by attorneys and title companies. If you need assistance drafting or interpreting legal documents, please contact a Real Estate Attorney, Title Company, or the State Bar of Wisconsin Lawyer Referral Service. The Register of Deeds Office is unable to provide legal advice.
