Cross- Country Skiing in Price County

Price County has nine (9) groomed cross-country ski trails offering almost 80 miles / 124km of trail for your enjoyment.  Trails vary in difficulty with something for every type of skiier.  You will also find a variety of beautiful scenery to enhance your skiing experience.  Trails for Diagonal/Classic skiing only: Newman Springs, Solberg Lake/Squaw Creek & Holy Cross. The Round Lake trail is not groomed and the Oxbo trail is not maintained or groomed but they can be used by skiiers. Trails  with both Skating and Diagonal/Classic skiing: Wintergreen, Worcester, Timm's Hill, High Point, Flambeau Hills & Palmquists' The Farm. 

The Log Jam Trail has been closed. The trail was located on Price County Airport Property. Non-aeronautical activity is not allowed on the property due to Federal Aviation Regulations. If you have further questions, contact the Price County Airport manager at 715-339-3701. The Worcester Trail is a great alternative for those looking to hike, bike, snowshoe or ski near Phillips.

Worcester Trail - 3 miles / 5 k - Skating and classic - Phillips - 715-339-4505/800-269-4505. This trail is located in the Phillips School Forest. It is groomed for diagonal and skate skiing. Directions: From Hwy. 13 in Phillips, take County Road H to Big Elk Road, then turn right on North Worcester Road. You can open the gate and drive into the parking lot; if the gate is locked, you can walk or ski the 1/3 mile to the trail. This trail was new in 2008.

Holy Cross Ski Trail - 6 miles / 9.6km - Classic only - Phillips - 715-339-4505/800-269-4505 - snowshoers are allowed to use this trail as long as they stay off the tracked portion

Solberg Lake/Squaw Creek Ski Trail - 3.4 miles / 5.4km - Classic only - Phillips - 715-339-4505/800-269-4505 - snowshoers are allowed to use this trail as long as they stay off the tracked portion

High Point Ski Trail - 9 miles / 14km - Skating & classic - Ogema - 715-767-5287 - snowshoers are allowed to use this trail as long as they stay off the tracked portion; dogs can accompany skiers and snowshoers

Timm's Hill Ski Trail - 7.5 miles / 12km - Skating & classic - Ogema - 715-767-5105 - snowshoers are allowed to use this trail as long as they stay off the tracked portion; dogs can accompany skiers and snowshoers

Palmquists' Ski Trail - 20 miles / 31km - Skating & classic - 15 km - Brantwood - 715-564-2558/800-519-2558 - snowshoers are allowed to use this trail as long as they stay off the tracked portion; dogs can accompany skiers and snowshoers

Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest Trails

Wintergreen Ski Trail - 5.8 miles / 9.2km - Skating & classic - Park Falls - 715-762-2461- snowshoers are allowed to use this trail as long as they stay off the tracked portion; for more information, go to http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/cnnf/rec/trailsntours/che_wintergreen_ski_trail.html.

Newman Springs Ski Trail - 6 miles / 9.6km - Classic skiing only for 2008 due to the trail being narrow - Park Falls - 715-762-2461- snowshoers are allowed to use this trail as long as they stay off the tracked portion; dogs can accompany skiers and snowshoers ; for more information, go to http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/cnnf/rec/trailsntours/che_newman_springs.html.

Round Lake Trail - 7 miles / 11 km - This trail is no longer maintained for cross-country skiing; however, it can be used for snowshoeing and hiking. For more information, go to http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/cnnf/rec/trailsntours/map_round_lake_logging_dam.html

Flambeau River State Forest Trail

Flambeau Hills Ski Trail - 14 miles / 22.4km - Skating & classic - Winter - 715-332-5271 - snowshoers are welcome to use this trail as long as they stay off the tracked portion

Oxbo Trail - 8 miles / 13 km - This trail is no longer groomed for cross country skiing; however, it can used for diagonal skiing and snowshoeing.

6 pair for rent; direct access to Flambeau River State Forest logging trails. The Oxbo Ski Trail is nearby and is used for diagonal skiing (it is not groomed).
