Children under age 16 don’t need a fishing license in Wisconsin. Adults may assist children in fishing, without a license. Examples of assisting are casting out and then handing the pole to the child, un-snagging, or fixing a line.

Coolidge Springs Trout Ranch
Location: W6981 Trout Pond Road, Fifield, WI 54524, 715-339-4484, call for information.
Notes: Private trout fishing pond open to the public. Poles, bait and cleaning services available. No license required and no limit enforced.
Elk Lake Park
Location: City park in Phillips on Elk Lake, right along Highway 13 just past the downtown area going north.
Notes: Offers a handicap accessible fishing pier plus other shorefishing spots along a nice shoreline trail. New boat landing and playground/pavilion area.
Hines Park
Location: City park in Park Falls on the Upper Park Falls Flowage. Saunders Avenue off Highway 182; look for signs.
Notes: Offers a great floating handicap accessible fishing pier plus other shore fishing spots, a nice park/playground, boat landing, and river walk trail.
Patterson Lake
Location: On Hwy. 182, 13 miles east of Park Falls.
Notes: Offers shoreline-based fishing along much of the lakeshore near a township boat landing/parking area. Great little stocked trout lake.
Prentice Park
Location: City park in Prentice on the Jump River, on Railroad Avenue north of downtown.
Notes: All shoreline-based fishing along a village picnic area/park.
Solberg Lake County Park
Location: County park in Phillips, from downtown take Cty. H to East Solberg Lake Road. Follow road around lake to the park entrance.
Notes: Shoreline fishing, fishing pier, boat dock, boat landing, sandy beach, picnic area, shelter, playground, sand volleyball, nature/hiking trail, and campsites.
